If you own an Android device, there’s probably a lot you want to buy on Google Play, but if you’re like me, you might be strapped for cash. Don’t worry, though – this post will help you get free Google Play Money to help with that problem.
Despite the wild popularity of Apple devices, their Android counterparts remain incredibly viable. In general, anything an Apple device can do, an Android device can do it just as well.
In fact, there are even some things Android can do that iPhones can’t do – and some apps that are only on Android.
But apps cost money. And some apps charge for in-app functionality. That’s why this post will cover all the ways you can get free Google Play money, so you can spend less of your hard-earned cash on all these goodies.
Google Play History
For all intents and purposes, Google Play is the Google equivalent of the Apple App Store. However, its history is a little more complicated than that.
Back in 2008, Google released the Android Market, which was the predecessor to the Google Play of today.
What Are Google Play Redeem Codes?
Google Play redeem codes, or activation codes, are 16-digit codes that allow you to redeem Google Play gift cards.
If you have a physical gift card, the code will be printed on the back of a card, much like a credit card number. If you get one via email, the redeem code will be included in the email you receive.
These codes can be redeemed for free Google Play credit by visiting play.google.com/redeem, directly from a gift email, or when making a purchase in Google Play.
Note that in order to redeem Google Play gift cards, the country where the card was originally purchased must match your country on your Google Play account. In other words, you can’t redeem gift cards from another country (or probably shouldn’t).
Also of note, you can’t transfer credit between Google Play accounts, even if both of them are yours.
How to Get Free Redeem Codes
With all the cool stuff available on Google Play, you’re probably itching to get your hands on some of that Android-y goodness. Well, I have some good news…and some bad news.
The good news is that yes, it is possible to earn free Google Play redeem codes. The bad news is that there aren’t that many ways to do so.
Many of the typical ways to earn free gift cards have an option for Amazon, iTunes, Xbox, and other stores, but no option for Google Play. Nevertheless, we still have a couple of options, and that’s what we’ll cover here.
Complete Surveys For Free Google Play Redeem Codes
One of the easiest ways to earn a bit of extra cash is by completing online surveys. Notice I said a little bit; indeed, it won’t be a lot.
Still, if you have free some free time, you can use sites like Swagbucks and Survey Junkie to earn some points. Then, you can cash out by opting for gift cards.
Some surveys do have the option to redeem Google Play gift cards. There aren’t a huge number of them since most only have iTunes/Apple App store, but I was able to find a few options.
I’m not sure why this is since, despite it sometimes feel like everyone has an iPhone, Android is still far more popular by number of devices. Sure, these are worldwide statistics, and I’d bet the US is quite different – but still.
In any case, here are some ways to earn free Google Play gift cards with surveys.
Use Swagbucks to Get Free Google Play Gift Cards
I mentioned Swagbucks above. That’s because Swagbucks is one of the easiest ways to earn free Google Play redeem codes is by using Swagbucks. Swagbucks is a site that rewards you for a variety of tasks, including completing surveys, watching videos, playing games, and surfing the web.

CARROT Wellness
As its name suggests, CARROT Wellness is a wellness app and it allows you to earn points that can be redeemed for gift cards.
If your employer has a wellness program, they may offer Google Play gift cards as a reward. In addition, CARROT has auctions sometimes have Google Play gift cards on offer. I was able to find one when browsing the app.

Google Play Promo Codes
Promo codes are one ways you can possibly get some freebies in Google Play. Promo codes are codes that can only be redeemed for in-app purchases.
If you aren’t familiar with in-app purchases, typically, they will be associated with an app that is free to download. However, certain features or items within the app will require real money in order to gain access to them.
Promo codes allow you to access in-app purchases for free by redeeming a special code. They usually come directly from the app developer as a well to help promote the app (hence “promo” codes).
Although codes are app-specific and can’t be used like a Google Play gift card, they could be worth using if there is an app you like that requires purchases. Be on the lookout for these codes; there are some sites that maintain lists of them.
Use Store Gift Cards To Get Google Play Redeem Codes
This is a bit of a roundabout way to get Google Play gift cards, but you could always use store gift cards buy them. For example, you could buy an Amazon gift card and then use that gift card to buy a Google Play gift card on Amazon.
And there are a number of apps that let you get Amazon gift cards – far more than those that have Google Play gift cards. Those include Drop, Swagbucks, Survey Junkie, and many more.
Heck, even step counting apps often have an Amazon gift card option! So, when you think about it this way, I guess you could say there are a lot of ways to earn free Google Play redeem codes.

Googe Play gift cards are a bit elusive. They aren’t as common as iTunes gift cards, for example. But with a little creativity, there are still plenty of ways to earn them!
