FinCon 2018 Update!

Hey all. Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday. The first Sunday of Fall, no less! And I can feel the full effects…kind of. It was in the mid-70s today.

Because I am originally from Chicago and I’m still somewhat conditioned for the weather there, I just didn’t feel like it was “cool” today. I mean sure, it was nearly in the 90s at the beginning of the month, so it’s cooler than it was.

Nonetheless, the seasons are assuredly changing, and with that come lots of exciting Fall activities. That means apple picking, Halloween, and pumpkin spice lattes – like it or not.

In addition to all the regular goodness of Fall is a little conference called FinCon. And guess what? I will be in attendance!

What is FinCon?

First held in 2011, FinCon is a gathering of bloggers, podcasters, influencers, and everything in between. The conference is pretty lengthy; it starts on Wednesday this week and goes all the way until Saturday.

The primary focus is finance (hence the name) and building your brand, blog, or whatever it is you have to offer. All in all, I am hoping it can help me to take this blog to the next level. Not only that, but I am also hoping to learn a lot and make a ton of new connections and friends.

I am seriously SO excited for some of the presentations I have on my calendar. Word on the street is you could get sidetracked due to “hallway chat” in between presentations, but I am hoping I get to see the ones I am looking forward to the most.

Among those are some people I feel like I already know in a way, such as:

• J.D. Roth
• Paula Pant
• Mr. Money Mustache
• Brad Barrett and Jonathan Mendonsa

…and so many more. So, so many. In fact, many sessions are scheduled during the same time slots, so it won’t be possible to see everyone. Regardless, it will be a great experience and I can’t wait.

I’m really looking forward to it and it should be a great time. I’m usually not the most talkative person, but the good news is there will be plenty of listening to do.

So yes, it’s going to be a pretty crazy several days, but I will definitely be posting again, hopefully with some photos, and definitely my take on the whole experience.
